The purchase tax column on your Roofr materials will bring more visibility into the true costs for items and make sure you aren’t underquoting jobs. Accurately add purchase tax to your Roofr items individually, in bulk, or as a default setting.
How to add purchase tax to your Roofr catalog items
💡 Material unit cost is now calculated from Pre-tax cost + Material purchase tax
How to add purchase tax to an individual item
In your Roofr catalog, find the Material purchase tax column
Enter the percentage tax amount that you pay to the supplier on that item (check your supplier invoice to find the tax percentage paid to your branch)
💡Be sure to check this column as visible in your column settings. You’ll only see purchase tax for ‘Material’ item types.
How to add purchase tax to items in bulk
Check the box at the top left of your catalog item list to select all items, or;
Check the individual boxes for the line items you wish to add purchase tax to
Click More, select Manage purchase tax
Enter the tax percentage you wish to add to all of the items checked
Click Save
How to add purchase tax as a default setting
💡 Default Values are automatically added to new catalog items but will not retroactively change items already in your catalog. You can change these values individually anytime.
In the Catalog section of your Roofr dashboard, select the Settings tab
Click Edit
Enter your default percentage value under Material purchase tax
You can also add your default values for Sales tax (the tax that your customer pays to you) and Waste in this section
Click Save
💡If you’ve been using margin/markup in your proposals to account for purchase tax, you’ll need to adjust those numbers.
